Perficient to acquire $12-million firm SMEDIX

MISSOURI, UNITED STATES — Perficient, a leading digital consultancy based in St. Louis, has agreed to acquire SMEDIX, a healthcare software company generating around $12 million in annual revenue.
The acquisition aims to expand Perficient’s healthcare software capabilities and offshore delivery presence.
Specifically, acquiring SMEDIX will allow Perficient to enhance its services for biomedical and healthcare customers by improving its healthcare software development capabilities. It will also add nearly 175 skilled professionals to Perficient’s global workforce.
Furthermore, the purchase will give Perficient an offshore software development facility in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, expanding its reach in Eastern Europe.
“We’re thrilled to continue to strengthen our healthcare industry digital capabilities, enhance our global delivery capacity, and expand further within Eastern Europe with the strategic acquisition of SMEDIX,” said CEO Tom Hogan.
SMEDIX focuses on areas like medical software development, data analytics, cloud computing and mobile applications. Its president and CEO, Fayez Sweiss, will take on a leadership role at Perficient after the acquisition.
Sweiss remarked, “We’re excited to join forces to not only deepen our healthcare digital experience and expertise, but also to further help our clients enhance patient care through innovative software solutions and technologies.”
The acquisition deal is expected to close in January 2024, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval.
Perficient, traded on the Nasdaq, is a leading global digital consultancy transforming some of the world’s largest enterprises and brands. It employs a workforce of over 9,000 professionals in more than 40 global locations.
In 2022, Perficient had a 19% increase in annual revenue to $905 million. It was named in the 2022 Global Outsourcing 100 list by the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals.
