PH cases outside NCR Plus rise to 300%
Fresh COVID-19 cases have been spiking through communities outside the NCR Plus bubble in the last few days, with some provinces reporting over a 300% rise in new infections.
According to local health authorities, cases in the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan are rising “exponentially” — up from 4,000 to 12,000 — in the last eight days.
In contrast, fresh cases are down by 20% in the National Capital Region (NCR) as of January 21.
Active cases and the average daily attack rate (ADAR) in the provinces of Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Northern Samar jumped more than 200%.
Last January 18, the Department of Health (DOH) also detected a surge in provinces and explained that while they have fewer cases than the NCR Plus region, a swift increase was observed in these places.
OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David disclosed that the areas with the most new COVID-19 cases last Fridat includes Metro Maila, Laguna, Cavite, Cebu, Rizal, Bulacan, Batangas, Davao del Sur, Iloilo, Pampanga, Benguet, and Misamis Oriental.
Other provinces with notable spikes in cases were Isabela, Pangasinan, Negros Occidental, Bataan, Zamboanga del Sur, Cagayan, Leyte, and Camarines Sur.
