PH labor market to rebound in one to two years – DOLE
Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE) secretary Silvestre Bello III projects that the country’s employment will rebound in one to two years.
In a webinar hosted by Viventis called “Flattening the Unemployment Curve,” Bello said that they are relying on technology, the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry, agribusiness, and the implementation of the “Build, Build, Build” project.
During the pandemic, the country’s unemployment rate rate surged to 17.7% in April from a year earlier. According to the Philippine Statistics Authority’s latest round of the survey, this is the highest unemployment rate since the government adopted new definitions for the Labor Force Survey in 2005.
