PH looking to join the Trans-Pacific free trade area

The Philippines expressed its interest in joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), a free trade agreement among Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore and Vietnam.
In a webinar, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Ceferino Rodolfo said that Secretary Ramon Lopez has formally submitted a letter of intent to New Zealand.
Further, Rodolfo said that the Philippines is also working on joining other trade agreements. He noted that the country has started exploring negotiations for a preferential trade agreement (PTA) with India, and that they’re in the “final stages of negotiations for an FTA with Korea as well as PTAs with Chile, Pakistan and Turkey.”
