PH to host ASEAN ICT leaders meeting
MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Philippine government is set to host the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) information and communications (ICT) ministers’ and leaders’ meeting in February.
“The Philippines is poised to host the annual 3rd ASEAN Digital Ministers Meeting (ADGMIN), ASEAN Digital Senior Officials Meeting (ADGSOM), and related meetings with dialogue partners on February 6 to 10, 2023, as spearheaded by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT),” a statement posted on DICT’s website read.
The meeting will bear the theme “Synergy Towards a Sustainable Digital Future.” This gathering aims to underscore how ASEAN countries can collaborate and work towards building a human-centric approach in the use of ICTs within the region and to forge stronger partnerships in addressing key challenges.
According to DICT, Secretary Ivan John Uy expects a good turnout of delegates as this would be the first time the ADGMIN and ADGSOM Leaders together with the Secretary General of the ASEAN, as well as other partners and country delegates shall be physically attending since the COVID-19 pandemic.
