PH to lift travel ban in 10 countries starting Sept 6
The Philippine government has approved the recommendation of lifting the travel ban in 10 countries starting September 6, according to presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
During a press conference, Roque stated that President Rodrigo Duterte has accepted the Inter-Agency Task Force’s (IATF) advice to open the country’s borders for travelers coming from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
However, individuals coming from these countries will need to comply with the appropriate entry, testing, and quarantine protocols, depending on the country’s approved “listing.”
Roque has also introduced the IATF’s adoption of the “Yellow” and “Red” lists, in addition to the “Green” category for countries, jurisdictions, and territories across the world.
These classifications will be based on the country’s respective COVID-19 incidence rates, case counts, and testing data.
Nations that will be included in the “Yellow List” will be classified as “Moderate Risk”, while “Red List” corresponds to a “High Risk”.
