Philippine IT-BPM eyes UK growth with AI services

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Philippine information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) industry is targeting the United Kingdom as a growth market, with IBPAP President and CEO Jack Madrid meeting UK companies and stakeholders facilitated by the Philippine Trade and Investment Centre in London (PTIC-London) to explore partnerships in artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled service delivery.
The meetings were arranged by the Department of Trade and Industry through PTIC-London Special Trade Representative May Niña Celynne Layug.
DTI and PTIC-London open UK market conversations for Philippine IT-BPM
According to a report from The Philippine Business News, the meetings focused on identifying specific partnership areas where Philippine and UK companies can collaborate, with the Philippines positioning AI-enabled services as the basis for the engagement rather than labor-cost competitiveness.
Philippine IT-BPM providers proposed delivering measurable outcomes to UK clients through service lines where AI adds quantifiable performance improvements: faster and safer customer query resolution, improved fraud detection, fewer processing errors, stronger cybersecurity, and governance of AI-driven workflows.
The UK represents a significant diversification opportunity for the Philippine IT-BPM sector, which still generates the majority of its revenues from the United States market.
Under Jack Madrid’s leadership, the sector surpassed US$40 billion in annual revenues in 2025 and supports approximately 1.9 million Digital Filipino Workers across customer experience, IT, and business process functions, IBPAP said.
AI scaling, GCC expansion, and talent development anchor IBPAP’s growth agenda
IBPAP has identified scaling AI responsibly, expanding global capability centers (GCCs), and strengthening talent development as its three primary priorities for sustaining growth in higher-value international markets.
The UK market push reflects the industry’s broader effort to move further up the global services value chain as automation and generative AI reshape the economics of traditional outsourcing work, according to DTI.
Philippine IT-BPM companies can strengthen their UK market position by demonstrating measurable business outcomes rather than competing on cost, according to the framing that guided the PTIC-London meetings.
For business process outsourcing (BPO) buyers in the United Kingdom, the IBPAP outreach represents an explicit signal that the Philippine IT-BPM industry is shifting its market pitch from cost arbitrage toward measurable AI-enabled performance differentiation.
The US-centric revenue base that has defined the sector creates both a concentration risk and a ceiling on premium-market positioning, and the UK engagements suggest IBPAP views European expansion as a near-term answer to both.
For companies evaluating outsourcing providers for customer experience, fraud detection, and compliance-sensitive functions, the Philippine IT-BPM sector is now positioning itself explicitly on those terms in the U.K.
