Public warned vs illegal POGO recruitment schemes
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) warns the public against the illegal recruitment of certain Chinese companies operating as Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) without a license in the country.
The Philippine National Police-Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) reported some Chinese and Taiwanese nationals have been lured into social media and recruited as POGO workers in a “slave trade” for the past years.
DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III advised, “It would be prudent to verify first the registration of such companies with relevant government agencies before engaging with them.” to avoid being defrauded.
