Remote work ‘did not solve’ the talent shortage in LatAm

The work-from-home arrangement didn’t help with the talent shortage in Latin America, according to a study by venture capital firm Atlantico.
Based on their report, about 35% of the employees who have lost their jobs amid the pandemic have now taken a job outside their country.
About 29% of HR managers said that they lost their remote workers to foreign employers, with 16% of them losing employees to companies outside Latin America.
LatAm companies have also hired foreign remote workers throughout the year, with 40% of respondents hiring individuals from other countries within the region.
Additionally, the talent shortage and the remote-working trend are forcing employers to increase wages with tech sector salaries growing by an average of 20% in the region.
However, business owners across the region believe that remote work will stay. Before COVID, only 7% of employees in the region are working remotely. The figure has increased to 33% amid the pandemic.
