Rural BPO unit in India brings job opportunities for locals

BANDIPORA, INDIA — A rural Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) was recently opened in the Banipore District, India, to provide employment opportunities for the local population.
By offering jobs in data processing, customer service, and other related fields, the BPO unit helps equip the local workforce — especially the youth — with valuable skills in the outsourcing sector.
The project is part of the India BPO Promotion Scheme (IBPS) to employ around 150,000 people in the country, particularly those living in rural areas.
The center is equipped with modern infrastructure and has been instrumental in the government’s ‘Digital India’ campaign, which aims to provide digital infrastructure to every citizen of the country.
“Our youth, especially boys and girls, get a job here,” said Bandipora Deputy Commissioner Dr. Owais Ahmad.
Ahmad also noted that they are looking for ways to expand the unit to places with network connections.
“We are exploring more options to provide employment to locals,” he added.
According to the district officials, the unit is becoming a “game changer” for Bandipore’s local youth, allowing them to work from their hometowns.
Currently, 750 young individuals have already been trained in the center.
