Salary, benefits top drivers of BPO appeal – survey

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Competitive compensation and benefit packages is the major factor that makes employment in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry attractive to job seekers, a recent survey by Malaysian employment website JobStreet and London-based data analytics firm Kantar revealed.
Based on the report titled “Laws of Attraction,” 19% of respondents perceive the BPO industry as “appealing” due to its attractive pay scale. The report noted that “salary and compensation” include base salary, bonuses, profit share, insurance, double pay, mandatory government benefit, guaranteed 13th- and 14th-month pay.
Career development (12.9%) and job security (11.5%) were also cited as key drivers that attract job seekers in the industry.
The study also found that information technology business process management (IT-BPM) roles are preferred by full time professionals, while back-end and front-of-house call center jobs are preferred by junior executives.
