SLASSCOM hosts career fair in Ruhuna, Sri Lanka
RUHUNA, SRI LANKA — The Sri Lanka Association of Software Services Companies (SLASSCOM) and the Ruhuna University Computer Science Department successfully hosted the RUHUNA IT & BPM Career Fair 2024.
The event marked a pivotal step in fostering the next generation of tech leaders in Sri Lanka.
The career fair attracted around 200 students, providing them with a unique opportunity to engage directly with top industry professionals.
For many participants, this was their first experience with job interviews, and several students managed to secure job offers and internships.
Professor Sujeewa Amarasena, the Vice Chancellor of Ruhuna University, and Haridhu Abeygoonarathne, Board Director at SLASSCOM, were among the dignitaries who attended the event.
“Our programs and initiatives aim to cultivate not only technical proficiency but also critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills essential for success in the modern workplace,” stated Abeygoonarathne.
He emphasized the importance of workshops, seminars, internships, and mentorship opportunities in providing students with hands-on exposure to real-world challenges and industry best practices.
Meanwhile, Amarasena highlighted the active engagement between faculty members and SLASSCOM to stay abreast of emerging trends and industry needs.
“By fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning, we will empower students to adapt to technological advancements and seize opportunities for growth and advancement in their careers,” he added.
