Surge in call center jobs seen in Indian metro cities

NEW DELHI, INDIA — Call center jobs are seeing a significant rise in the Indian cities of Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chennai, according to a recent report by global job site Indeed.
The study looked at job postings on the platform from May 2020 to May 2023, revealing key trends in these metro areas.
Mumbai tops the chart in providing call center opportunities with 12% of the postings. Bengaluru isn’t far behind with 11.86%, while Chennai accounts for 8% of the jobs.
The report also indicates a notable increase in call center executive jobs. Companies need larger customer support teams to address customer queries regarding online orders, leading to more job opportunities in this sector.
Indeed India’s data illuminates changing job market dynamics in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Chennai. The demand for roles traditionally seen as blue-collar, such as call center executives, underscores an increased focus on customer service, among others.
