Korea’s Hongik IT, Vietnam’s TMA expand tech ties

HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM — Vietnamese software company TMA Solutions and Korean information technology firm Hongik IT signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on August 25, 2026 to deepen bilateral technology cooperation, the latest agreement between Vietnamese outsourcing providers and Korean partners at the Korea-Vietnam ICT Business Festival.
Korean delegation of 9 organizations visits TMA ahead of MOU signing
The MOU followed a Korean partner delegation hosted by TMA on August 13, 2026, which included representatives from Hongik IT, Gachon University, Sunchon National University, and six companies operating in the gaming and entertainment sector.
The delegation visit covered TMA’s software development operations and explored areas for future cooperation in technology and talent development.
TMA Solutions employs more than 4,000 software engineers in Vietnam and has operated for 29 years, making it one of the longest-established software business process outsourcing (BPO) providers in Southeast Asia with an active Korean client pipeline.
TMA Solutions also signed a separate MOU with InDJ, a Korean company, at the Korea-Vietnam ICT Business Festival, targeting artificial intelligence (AI) collaboration as a second strand of the bilateral technology partnership.
Vietnam’s IT sector diversifies inbound demand toward Korean enterprise clients
Vietnam’s IT outsourcing sector has historically concentrated on Japan and the United States as its primary client markets, with Korea representing a smaller but growing share of inbound demand.
The combination of geographic proximity, time-zone alignment, and the Korean government’s active push to develop Vietnam as a technology development partner — formalized in bilateral ministerial discussions in 2024 between Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications and South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT — gives Korean companies a government-supported pathway into Vietnam’s engineering talent pool.
Hongik IT’s partnership with TMA Solutions, paired with the concurrent engagement of Korean universities and gaming companies in the same delegation, suggests the cooperation spans both enterprise software delivery and talent pipeline development for specialized technology roles.
TMA Solutions said the agreement with Hongik IT was part of its broader effort to expand partnerships with Korean organizations in technology development and workforce training.
For Korean companies evaluating Vietnam as a software development and IT staffing location, TMA Solutions’ dual engagement at both commercial and academic levels positions it as a partner capable of supporting client technical delivery while contributing to the skilled engineering pipeline that Korean operators need as they scale regional operations.
