UK firms are finding it hard to implement hybrid work

The majority of organizations in the United Kingdom (UK) are still encountering challenges implementing hybrid working, with reluctance to return to the workplace the leading issue faced by employers.
According to a poll conducted by software company XpertHR, 95% of surveyed organizations experienced challenges with the implementation of hybrid schemes. The respondents said that 37% of their staff are unhappy with the two to three days that they are spending in the office and would prefer more time working at home.
While improved work-life balance due to hybrid working as expected, the report stated that there were more question marks around the impact this model would have on productivity.
Four in 10 (40%) UK organizations said they were observing a growing disconnect between staff members who work from home and those who go into the office, and fear a divide is beginning to form.
Noelle Murphy, a senior HR practice editor at XpertHR, said that old-fashioned ideas that led to presenteeism were still present at some workplaces.
He added that the company’s communication models need to support hybrid working and can demonstrate transparency and fairness both in the design and rollout of their working model.
