Ukraine’s tech outsourcing sector is back online

Ukraine’s information technology (IT) outsourcing industry is now regrouping and awaiting new clients despite the ongoing war with its neighbor, Russia.
The Ukrainian government attributed this comeback to the steady supply of electricity, uninterrupted internet services, and relocating their tech workers into safe locations.
IT outsourcing is the country’s third-largest export, recording a 36% growth in 2021 with around 285,000 employees.
With their tech workers back online, Ukraine is urging companies to invest in their IT outsourcing industry and open more outsourcing positions for its citizens.
The government said that work from abroad could help Ukraine’s tech industry — and the economy — get back on its feet.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that preserving and restoring the economy could help Ukraine live and restart post-war. He also promised to remove as “many obstacles as possible” while getting their business sector back on track.
Currently, several sites — including UA Talents, Ease Work, Hire for Ukraine, EmployUkraine, and Imagine Ukraine — have emerged to help connect foreign to Ukrainian tech talents.
Sergiy Fitsak, Managing Director of software development company Softjourn, explained that right now, Ukraine has two fronts — the army and the economy.
He added that people can help them out more on the second front by sending more job opportunities to Ukrainian outsourcing agencies.
