U.S. BPO, IT sectors see top lucrative AI roles
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — The United States (U.S.) is seeing robust demand for artificial intelligence (AI) expertise in its job market, specifically in the BPO and IT sectors, with many positions commanding six-figure salaries.
According to the latest data from the job search platform Adzuna, the U.S. had 7.6 million job vacancies, of which 169,045 required AI capabilities. Generative AI skills, in particular, were requested in 3,575 of these positions.
The job roles often featured software engineers, product designers, deep learning architects, and data scientists.
Interestingly, demand for tax managers adept in AI saw a considerable spike. Accounting and consulting firms are keen on hiring these professionals to leverage large language models for enhanced efficiency.
On average, Adzuhna data revealed that a tax manager role incorporating AI commands an annual salary of approximately $100,445.
The explosion in AI-related jobs began with the introduction of ChatGPT in late 2022. Companies are now rushing to recruit competent professionals to integrate this technology into their workflows. EY, Wells Fargo, and Kaiser Permanente are notable firms incorporating AI into their operations.
Jay Shankar, Vice President of Global Talent Acquisition at Amazon Web Services, says AI proficiency is essential across all sectors.
“AI is practically everywhere now … and to me, if there’s one technical skill you want to learn, that’s the area to focus on,” she added.
In contrast, India and the United Kingdom listed 25,900 and 16,825 jobs, respectively, underscoring the U.S.’s leadership in fostering its AI talent pool.
