35% of U.S. workers believe that AI will replace them

VIRGINIA, UNITED STATES — Around 35%, or one in three workers in the United States (U.S.), believe they will be easily replaced by artificial intelligence (AI) and automation in the next few years.
According to a recent survey by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), more U.S.-based companies increasingly rely on automation and AI.
The report also found that nearly 10% of American workers have already experienced an impact from workplace automation.
The survey, which included responses from 521 U.S. workers, found that 23% are concerned that workplace automation will replace their jobs in the next five years.
However, 57% of the respondents are confident that their organization could train them to use workplace automation effectively.
Moreover, the report found that 50% of workers believe that automating specific job tasks or duties would give them more time to focus on other tasks.
Interestingly, compared to their male counterparts, female workers are less concerned about job displacement due to workplace automation and are less convinced that their jobs will become more reliant on it.
SHRM’s survey was conducted between March 30 and April 3 in response to the rising popularity of AI tools and the development of new state and federal regulations for the latest tech.
