84% of IT-BPO firms operational during MECQ

Economic zones are still operating at higher capacity and employ over a million workers in the country despite the continuing phases of community quarantine, said Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Charito B. Plaza.
According to Plaza, economic zones were at 90% operating capacity, allowing 1,193,813 employees to work under various work schemes during the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) period from April 12-16.
Plaza added that 84% of the IT-BPO (Information Technology – Business Process Outsourcing) sector in the country continued to operate during the same period.
