LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM — Acuity Analytics has acquired Continuus, a U.S. data consultancy that works with asset managers and other financial institutions, adding 37 specialists to its largest market. The deal gives the research and analytics group an onshore team for data strategy, governance and cloud platform work.

An onshore team for data and AI

Continuus helps clients develop enterprise data strategies, set up governance frameworks and run large cloud data transformation and engineering programs, Acuity said in an announcement on Oct. 7.

The team will complement Acuity’s global delivery network and adds Snowflake Premier partner status and deeper Microsoft expertise.

Continuus also brings program delivery and data governance experience, which matters more as financial institutions move data and AI programs into production.

“What attracted us to Continuus was its deep understanding of financial services and its ability to turn data strategy into practical business outcomes for clients,” said Rob King, chief executive officer of Acuity Analytics. King said the deal strengthens Acuity’s U.S. presence and its ability to help clients adopt new technologies.

The deal comes as financial institutions increase investment in data infrastructure to meet regulatory requirements and scale AI across the enterprise.

From research to technology

Acuity said the purchase supports its shift from a financial services research and analytics business into a technology-led organization.

“Clients are making significant investments in cloud data platforms, but technology alone is not enough,” said Stewart Smythe, Acuity’s chief delivery officer for AI, data and digital. He said success depends on having the right operating model, governance framework and delivery expertise in place.

Acuity Analytics is the trading name of Acuity Knowledge Partners, which has more than 7,800 analysts, data specialists and technologists across 28 locations. It was spun out of Moody’s in 2019, and funds advised by Permira took a majority stake in January 2023.

“Joining Acuity gives our team access to broader capabilities, deeper sector expertise and a global platform from which to grow,” said Matt Moeser, chief executive officer of Continuus.

For financial services buyers, the deal pairs U.S. advisory staff with an offshore analytics bench under one contract. Firms using knowledge process outsourcing (KPO) for research and data work should ask how onshore and global delivery center teams will split governance and engineering tasks.
