Israeli firms urge Philippines to upgrade education system
The Israel Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines has urged the government to further invest in education; provide a friendlier business environment, and improve relations with leading technology nations, if the country wants to become a serious player in global technology and innovation. The chamber said higher education institutions should be given incentives and a stronger mandate to hasten the curriculum upgrade in preparation for AI and for higher technology adaptation in the country. Curricula need to be updated to reflect new technology, the chamber said. The group cited the Philippines’ business process outsourcing (BPO) industry as an example of a sector that has introduced a lot of technology, knowledge and opportunities that local people are now able to capitalize on. Still, the country can do a lot more in respect of taking advantage of the adoption of advanced technology if it supports the development of its tech-savvy young population.
