Wipro ties up with Nasscom for skilling platform

IT company Wipro announced that it has teamed up with IT body Nasscom to roll out a skilling platform for new-age technologies, targeting 10,000 students from more than 20 engineering colleges in India.
Called Future Skills, Wipro said the initiative aims to bridge the industry-academia skills gap and assist students in keeping pace with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and the internet of things to make them “future-ready.” The platform will develop a talent pool of students certified by both Wipro and Nasscom.
Rishad Premji, Wipro chairman, said the program allows content and people to come together, as well as curation and learning at one’s own pace. Meanwhile, Debjani Ghosh, Nasscom president, said they aim to add 90 million working professionals to the industry by 2030 and that their partnership with Wipro will ensure that they possess the right skills to be hired.
