BPO employees given hotel accommodation during Luzon lockdown

Business process outsourcing employees can make use of available hotel rooms in Metro Manila and in other parts of Luzon that are affected by the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Falling under the category of “other guests”, BPO employees may be accommodated in double occupancy rooms as indicated under Administrative Order 2020-001B issued by the Department of Tourism (DOT) secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
According to the agency, there are already 13,287 hotel rooms located in the National Capital Region where BPO employees are currently billeted. Additionally, further 11,549 rooms intended for returning Filipino workers have also been made available.
The arrangement for the accommodations was a joint effort with different national government agencies, as provided for in Republic Act 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act of 2020.
