Metro Manila to be placed on GCQ starting Sept 8

Metro Manila will be placed under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) from September 8 to 30, said Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
Along with this, granular lockdowns will also be tested in different cities in the capital region during the quarantine period.
In a press conference, Roque stated that movement restrictions will be imposed on the citizens per barangay under the new lockdown category and the government will give financial aid to the people that will be affected by it.
The spokesperson added that the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) will release further details and guidelines on granular lockdowns tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that implementing granular lockdowns would help the government improve its active case finding, mass testing, and immediate isolation of positive individuals.
Several areas in the country will also be put under GCQ, while the others will be under GCQ with heightened restrictions and Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ).
