Accenture wins DPD contract with the Australian government

Multinational IT services and consulting company Accenture has won a $60 million deal with the Australian government to create a digital passenger declaration (DPD) platform that will help collect vaccine status information of foreign travelers that are entering the country.
Home Affairs minister Karen Andrews disclosed the contract last Monday following an extended 10-month search for an outsourcing partner that will build the permission-based services platform.
The DPD is expected to replace the paper-based incoming passenger cards at Australia’s borders and the COVID-19 Australian travel declaration web form that was first implemented last year.
Accenture will begin testing the DPD and provide initial operating capability data before the end of the year.
