Four new BPO operators to enter Fiji
Four new Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) operators are expected to arrive in Fiji this year, creating 300 new job opportunities for the local population.
According to Permanent Secretary for Commerce Shaheen Ali, several Australian BPO operators have withdrawn from Asia post-COVID to look for alternative locations.
Ali said that Fiji is taking advantage of this as these locators are looking for nearshore partners.
“Fiji is home to a number of prominent BPO brands now, as you know there is a BPO Council, and there are companies like Mindpearl, Centercom, KPMG, and PwC and a number of other smaller businesses that are now finding the niche in Fiji and doing in-house offshore operations,” stated Ali.
Fiji’s BPO Council currently has 30 members, 21 of which are in the outsourcing sectors, while the rest operate in the technology, infrastructure, and investment industries.
The government official also reiterated that Fiji’s “ time zone, neutral accent, educated workforce, and excellent ICT infrastructure” makes it an attractive nearshore destination for locators looking to expand their operations.
