Video resumes gain momentum in hiring globally

BARCELONA, SPAIN — Pre-recorded video interviews, often termed “video resumes”, are transforming recruitment strategies as companies adapt to remote and hybrid working environments.
A recent report by VideoAsk by Typeform indicates a significant increase in their use, with approximately 69% of human resource managers considering asynchronous video interview software to enhance recruitment.
These asynchronous interviews allow candidates to record responses on their own schedule, adding convenience and efficiency to hiring processes.
The adoption of video resumes started rising during the pandemic as companies shifted online, and continues to gain momentum.
“Using video as a medium in the hiring process allows candidates and employers alike to emphasize the human factor,” Laura Daniels, Chief People Officer at Typeform told Forbes.
“Rather than engaging through words on a page, you can connect face to face, human to human.”
As video technology becomes more prevalent in recruitment, candidates are encouraged to showcase their skills and personality through engaging and well-prepared video submissions.
This trend is expected to continue growing globally into 2024 and beyond, marking a new era in hiring practices.
Typeform is just one of many companies utilizing video interviews around the world. Others include HireVue, Spark Hire, VidCruiter, Hireflix, CodeSignal, and Brazen. Candidates everywhere should prepare for the possibility of pre-recorded video interviews as they become a standard part of the recruitment process.
