Infosys holds steady as digital services lift margins

BERLIN, GERMANY — Infosys posted $5,082 million in revenue for the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, with artificial intelligence (AI)-led services growing from 5.5% to 8.2% of total quarterly revenue in a single quarter, operating margin holding at 21.1%, and full-year constant-currency growth guidance narrowed to 1.5%–3.0%.
According to the company’s Q1 FY27 earnings release dated July 23, 2026, large deal wins reached $3.6 billion for the quarter, with 61% classified as net new business — reinforcing Infosys’s position as an enterprise AI-enabled outsourcing provider gaining new client commitments rather than consolidating within existing accounts.
AI-led revenue hits 8.2% of quarterly revenue; $3.6Bn in new deals
The 2.7 percentage-point jump in AI revenue share — from 5.5% in Q4 FY26 to 8.2% in Q1 FY27 — indicates that commercially deployed AI engagements are scaling faster than Infosys’s overall revenue base. The $3.6 billion large deal total, 61% net new, shows AI momentum converting directly into new enterprise commitments.
Revenue growth in constant-currency terms was 2.4% year-on-year (YoY), reflecting sustained enterprise IT budget caution across global markets. Free cash flow was $955 million and net profit $820 million, confirming that top-line growth moderation is not eroding the company’s profitability.
With AI-led services growing from 5.5% to 8.2% of revenue in one quarter, Infosys is demonstrating that enterprise AI implementation — not just AI advisory — is the active commercial growth driver in global IT outsourcing, with deal wins validating the transition at scale.
“AI momentum is now rapidly converting into revenue, which demonstrates how Infosys’ differentiated enterprise AI value proposition is translating into consistent market share gains,” said Salil Parekh, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Infosys.
21.1% margin holds; CEO succession set for April 2027
Infosys retained its full-year FY27 operating margin guidance at 20%–22%, with Q1’s 21.1% outcome confirming that the company’s AI investment program is not compressing the margin range it has maintained for the past two fiscal years.
Infosys announced the appointment of Ashiss Kumar Dash as CEO Designate through March 31, 2027, with Dash intended to assume the CEO and Managing Director role from April 1, 2027, subject to statutory requirements — marking the company’s first formal succession planning announcement in several years.
Full-year revenue growth guidance was narrowed to 1.5%–3.0% in constant currency — tighter than the prior 1%–3% range — reflecting improved second-half demand visibility as AI project pipelines convert to booked revenue.
For IT services buyers and BPO operators evaluating AI-enabled outsourcing partners, Infosys’s 21.1% margin alongside accelerating AI revenue confirms that enterprise AI delivery is scaling commercially without compressing the profitability that underpins long-term partner viability.
“Our resilient margins of 21.1% and consistent strong cash generation reflect the strength of our business model, disciplined execution and continued focus on operational excellence,” said Jayesh Sanghrajka, Chief Financial Officer, Infosys.
For enterprise IT buyers and offshore operators tracking the Indian IT services sector, Infosys’s Q1 FY27 results — AI revenue acceleration, stable margins, and a structured CEO succession — position the company as a stabilizing force in a sector where AI adoption is beginning to visibly move revenue.
