Accenture amplifies AI capabilities with Nextira acquisition

NEW YORK & AUSTIN, UNITED STATES — Leading outsourcing firm Accenture announced its acquisition of Nextira, an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Premier Partner that leverages AWS to produce cloud-native innovation.

Established in 2008, Austin-based Nextira and its nearly 70 employees will integrate into the Accenture AWS Business Group, which has over 20,000 certified professionals.

The Accenture AWS Business Group is part of Accenture Cloud First, Accenture’s business group dedicated to transforming how organizations function and generate value by leveraging cloud, data, and AI.

Nextira develops cloud-based solutions utilizing leading-edge engineering skills, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and data analytics. These allow clients to design, build, and optimize high-performance computing environments.

“We will combine Nextira’s AI, machine learning, and data and analytics abilities with Accenture’s approach to using modern data platforms on cloud. This will deliver the actionable insights and predictive outcomes that our clients need to create new applications and services, deliver innovative customer and employee experiences and fuel their next wave of product and market growth,” explained Karthik Narain, global lead for Accenture Cloud First.

“Joining Accenture will connect our deep experience in platform and software engineering with Accenture’s breadth of knowledge across cloud technologies, creating new opportunities for organizations to unlock the potential of emerging technologies to drive business value,” said Nextira founder and CEO Jason Cutrer.

Accenture has conducted a thorough analysis of the enterprise landscape for 23 years to pinpoint technology trends most likely to cause disruptions in businesses and industries.

In March, the firm announced it had created a team called the Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) Centre of Excellence, which consists of 1,600 professionals who specialize in generative AI. This team is built on years of research and client work, and it leverages the expertise of over 40,000 AI and data professionals across Accenture.

According to Accenture, language-based AI is expected to support or augment up to 40% of all working hours.
