BPO Companies to Open Facilities
The BPO industry is centered around Manila. Seven out of every ten BPOs are present in the Metro Manila region.
However, in a bid to boost equitable growth, the Government wants to change that. It proposes to bring down the ratio to 50%, which will aid greatly in de-congesting Manila.
The Board of Investments Southern Mindanao is personally showcasing Davao to 20 large BPO players. A 250-hectare township has been specifically identified for the purpose. Should they decide to locate their next facilities here, their employees will have easy access to affordable housing, transportation, recreation, and entertainment.
Chief Engineer Gil Dureza says the real estate developer will work closely with the companies to construct facilities as per their needs. The township in Tigatto has been designated as mixed-use.
As of now, the BPO industry’s attrition rate is 65%. This is primarily because a lot of young graduates come from all over the Philippines to Manila, only to find that a five-kilometer commute takes three hours.
Helping them achieve a greater work-life balance is expected to bring down the attrition rate considerably.
