BPO sector could generate 100K jobs in Fiji

Fiji’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry can provide about 100,000 jobs in the next 10 years, said BPO Council Executive Director Sagufta Janif.
Janif stated that “exponential growth” can be expected in the sector due to its access to a highly-skilled workforce and state-of-the-art technology.
However, the executive director said that this initiative can only continue “through the right mix of policy, government support, investment incentive, and access to infrastructure, and a highly-skilled workforce.”
Janif noted that Fiji has entered a “new era” where technology, communication, and service are essential in the global world.
Currently, about 80% of employees in the local outsourcing industry consist of young workers below the age of 35.
