BPO workers in Cebu not exempted from movement restrictions

Workers in the business process outsourcing (BPO) companies in Cebu City are still barred from leaving the city and returning to their homes in the province.
Cebu governor Gwendolyn Garcia reiterated her earlier stance that preventing these workers in Cebu City from returning to their homes would greatly help to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Garcia earlier said that Cebu City is now considered as the epicentre of COVID-19 in the province, and allowing thousands of BPO workers to return home from the city could make them potential carriers of the virus.
She again called on business owners to provide accommodation and transportation for their employees in the city as part of their contribution to the efforts to fight the spread of the virus.
