Cognizant appoints ex-Infosys chief as CEO

NEW JERSEY, UNITED STATES — Multinational IT services and consulting firm Cognizant announced the appointment of Ravi Kumar S as its new CEO and a member of the Board.
Before his appointment, Kumar served a 20-year stint in another IT giant Infosys and worked as its President from January 2016 through October 2022.
Cognizant Chair of the Board Stephen Rohleder said they are “focused on positioning Cognizant to reaccelerate growth and drive shareholder value.”
“[Kumar] brings world-class expertise in consulting, process, and technology transformation as well as demonstrated success building businesses. We are highly confident he can build on Cognizant’s portfolio of in-demand solutions, strong brand, and significant international expansion opportunity to unlock enhanced performance and growth,” Rohleder added.
Meanwhile, Kumar stated that he is honored to join Cognizant, adding that the firm is “well-positioned for growth, and I’m excited to unlock the Company’s significant potential for our employees, clients, investors, and other stakeholders.”
Kumar succeeds Brian Humphries in both the CEO and board member roles. To facilitate a smooth transition, Humphries will remain with the company as a special advisor until March 15, 2023.
Cognizant had previously announced that Kumar would join the company as President of Cognizant Americas. He will be replaced by the SVP of Cognizant’s Health Sciences business segment Surya Gummadi.
