EnableComp acquires Helix Advisory for RCM tech

TENNESSEE, UNITED STATES — EnableComp acquired Helix Advisory, a Cincinnati-based underpayment identification technology firm, to enhance its Zero Balance Review platform with clinical signal detection and root-cause analytics.

The acquisition targets a segment of the $130 billion-plus annual hospital underpayment problem that standard audit systems routinely miss.

Helix technology detects underpayments standard audits miss

EnableComp, backed by Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, provides complex revenue cycle management (RCM) recovery solutions to hospitals and health systems, focusing on underpayments from insurers and government payers that standard billing audits fail to identify.

According to a press release, Helix Advisory’s underpayment identification platform uses clinical signal detection to flag discrepancies between coding and reimbursement, and root-cause analytics to trace the origin of underpayments, enabling EnableComp clients to recover revenue missed by rules-based systems.

“Most recovery programs find what they’re told to look for. Helix’s technology finds what nobody told it to look for — that’s the difference between a rules engine and real intelligence,” said Frank Forte, chief executive officer at EnableComp.

Helix founder joins EnableComp as product vice president

Zack Higbie, who founded Helix Advisory, will join EnableComp as vice president of revenue recovery products, integrating his team’s technology directly into EnableComp’s existing platform serving hospitals and health systems.

The combination gives EnableComp’s clients access to underpayment detection capabilities that work below the thresholds typically triggered by claim size or complexity, reaching revenue that standard audit and recovery programs are not configured to find.

“The technology we built at Helix was purpose-built to find revenue that traditional recovery programs leave on the table. Early clients are seeing greater than 2% net revenue improvements on previously unrecognized revenue,” said Zack Higbie, founder of Helix Advisory and vice president of revenue recovery products at EnableComp.

The acquisition reflects a consolidation trend in healthcare business process outsourcing (BPO), where RCM vendors are adding AI-powered analytics to recover increasingly complex underpayments from payers who use algorithmic claims adjudication.

Hospital finance teams face growing pressure to identify underpayments from government and commercial payers, as claim complexity has increased with the shift to value-based contracts and alternative payment models that create new coding-to-reimbursement mismatches.

Franklin, Tennessee-based EnableComp has established itself in the complex claims recovery market, and the Helix Advisory acquisition deepens its technological edge against competing RCM recovery platforms that rely on conventional audit methodologies.
