CAIRO, EGYPT — Vietnam-headquartered technology services company FPT has opened an office in New Cairo, its first in Africa, with a team of more than 60 Egyptian engineers. The company plans to use Egypt as a base to serve clients across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
From an MoU to a delivery team
The expansion builds on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that FPT signed with Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) at the Global Offshoring Summit in Cairo in November 2025, according to the Egyptian Gazette. Ahead of the opening, ITIDA CEO Ahmed Elzaher met FPT executives at the agency’s Smart Village headquarters to discuss expansion plans, demand for specialized technology talent and growing the Egyptian workforce as operations scale.
The Egypt team delivers software development, AI solutions, application support and other IT services, and currently serves clients in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait. FPT plans to expand into European markets, starting with France.
“With AI reshaping how technology is built and delivered, enterprises are seeking partners that can combine industry expertise, innovation and consistent execution at scale,” said Phuong Dang, senior executive vice president of FPT Software.
Egypt courts more complex work
For Egypt, the opening fits a push for higher-value technology operations. “Our focus is on attracting investments that go beyond scale, bringing more sophisticated technology work to Egypt, strengthening local capabilities and expanding the range of services delivered to international markets,” Elzaher said.
Mahmoud Sofrata, ITIDA’s vice president for ICT market development, said FPT’s investment builds on the complementary strengths of Egypt and Vietnam in technology and engineering. Egypt’s offshoring and technology services sector generated $5.2 billion in service exports in 2025.
FPT operates in more than 30 countries, reported revenue of $2.66 billion in FY2025 and has a workforce of more than 44,000 across its core businesses. It serves more than 1,100 clients, including over 130 Fortune Global 500 companies.
For buyers in Europe and the Gulf, the Cairo office gives an Asian IT provider a nearshore outsourcing option closer to home. Companies evaluating a global delivery center in Egypt can ask how the team will scale beyond its first 60 engineers, and compare providers on the top BPO companies worldwide list.
