MYS Looking for IT and BPO Connections
Recent news suggests that Malaysia is taking steps to be associated with Visayas-based IT and BPO companies. Nyaee Ayup, Malaysian Trade Commissioner, spoke at a meeting of the Information Technology-Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector which was held in Iloilo in the month of November, 2016. He said that they wanted to establish connections between the business industries located in the Visayas and Iloilo and Malaysian companies.
The Malaysian trade commissioner is being supported in his endeavors by the Export Marketing Bureau of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI. At the meeting, Ayup commented that they were keen on promoting these selected cities to various Malaysian firms. The idea is to create work opportunities not just in Manila, but in the Philippines as well. The Philippines is considered to be among the most lucrative BPO markets all over the world.
Diosdado Cadena, DTI-Iloilo Director offered a briefer to Ayup on Iloilo and the city’s IT-BPM sector. He also spoke about the variety of DTI programs supporting the MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises). Cebu is seen as the other powerful contender for an association with Malaysia besides Iloilo.
