Nigeria’s BPO sector reaches $285M

Nigeria’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector has reached a total of US$285.8 million this year, topping Africa’s domestic and international Global Business Services (GBS) industry that amounts to US$15.1 billion.

According to the 2021 Africa Global Business Services (GBS) Benchmarking and Market Report conducted by Knowledge Executive, Nigeria has a well-established and the largest ICT sector in the continent.

Knowledge Executive said that this sector boosts the country’s GBS/BPO industry, which is currently employing over 16,000 locals.

The research added that the West African country “stands poised to take advantage of the largest population of English speakers in Africa and the highest number of youths on the continent aged between 18-35 years (53 million).”

The continuous growth of Nigeria’s BPO industry can contribute greatly to Africa’s GBS sector which was forecasted to increase by $19.8 billion in 2023.
