PEZA assures stakeholders of ‘unhampered’ Mactan ecozone operations

The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza) assures its stakeholders of unhampered operations in the Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ) amid stricter border controls implemented in Cebu Province.

According to PEZA general director Charito Plaza, they have sent letters to the local government units in Cebu and to Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu for MEZ employees to seamlessly pass through.

Expenses of providing temporary housing/accommodation and shuttle services to the employees,  costs for disinfection conducted by the company in its work area/facility/premises and Covid-19 tests for the employees during the community quarantine are deductible from the locators’ five percent Gross Income Tax incentive. According to Plaza, “408 economic zones remain operational, and Peza companies are highly the ones maintaining our economy,”
