Outsourcing expert attributes PH’s $32Bn BPO growth to Western SMEs

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from Western countries drove the US$32.4 billion growth of the Philippines outsourcing industry last year, said Outsource Accelerator (OA) Founder and CEO Derek Gallimore.
In an interview with One News’ Agenda, Gallimore stated that global recession, the Great Resignation, and the rise of remote work pushed companies to look for offshore and outsourcing options for their operations.
He also emphasized that the Philippines’ value, quality of service, and 30 years of executive experience make the country the best outsourcing destination.
Citing Outsource Accelerator’s Time Doctor OA500 report, Gallimore reported that 84% of the companies in the list are next-gen outsourcing agencies catering to SMEs as clients.
“This part of the industry is just exploding,” he added.
Gallimore expects around 40 million new jobs to come offshore over the next 10-20 years as SMEs realize the opportunity of offshore staffing.
Regarding the rising competition from other countries, Gallimore said it is up to the Philippines to be more competitive and lead the outsourcing industry.
