Sourcefit survey finds 52% of its offshore workers use AI weekly

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Three in ten workers in Sourcefit’s client-managed staff augmentation workforce say limited access to AI tools is the biggest barrier to deeper adoption — even as 52% already use AI daily or several times a week and 68% report productivity improvements.

Sourcefit fielded the survey between February and July 2026 across eight questions, with respondents drawn from client-managed staff augmentation roles across the Philippines, South Africa, Dominican Republic, and Madagascar.

Over half of Sourcefit’s workforce uses AI at least weekly; writing and documentation lead use cases

According to a Sourcefit survey of 1,860 employees, three-quarters of respondents (74%) use AI at least occasionally, and 52% use it daily or several times per week. Among active users, 68% report productivity improvements and 66% feel confident using AI in their daily work; only 3% report discomfort. Fewer than 7% of Sourcefit‘s own surveyed workers fear AI will harm their roles.

Writing and documentation is the leading use case at 36%, followed by research and analysis at 30% and customer support at 14% — applications that map directly to core offshore staff augmentation work. Limited access to tools is the primary barrier, cited by 30% of respondents; security concerns follow at 20%.

Both are provisioning constraints — employer-side problems, not worker-side resistance.

The access gap is the data point a workforce manager can act on today: nearly one in three workers who want to use AI more are not doing so because they have not been given the tools — not because they resist, distrust, or fear them.

“These professionals are using AI and it is making them better and more confident in their jobs. When your offshore team and your onshore team have access to the same AI tools, the gap in output quality narrows. AI is actually an equalizer between local and offshore staff. The offshore team becomes more competitive, not less,” said Andy Schachtel, founder and CEO of Sourcefit.

Sourcefit’s findings sit alongside a different picture from organized Philippine contact-center workers

OA reported today that organized contact-center workers in the Philippines — surveyed by the BPO Industry Employees Network (BIEN) — are pressing for legislative protection against AI-driven displacement, at a time when the IMF puts 36% of Philippine jobs at high AI displacement risk.

The two surveys describe different populations. Sourcefit’s 1,860 respondents hold client-embedded staff augmentation roles across four countries; BIEN’s respondents are organized workers in commoditized Philippine contact-center seats, where AI substitution risk is most direct.

Both sets of findings describe real workforces — and they do not resolve each other.

Client-embedded staff augmentation roles and commoditized contact-center seats face very different AI exposure; reading the confidence in Sourcefit’s data as evidence against displacement risk — or reading BIEN’s concern as representative of all offshore workers — misapplies both surveys.

For BPO operators and workforce managers building AI-enabled offshore teams, the Sourcefit data adds a signal: among client-embedded professionals, the constraint on broader AI adoption is access provisioning — an operational problem a competent employer can fix.
