Opportunity to tap Chinese market pushed by DTI

Local service outsourcing companies wanting to expand globally have an opportunity to tap into the burgeoning Chinese market at the upcoming China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2018 in Shanghai. The Philippines government’s export marketing arm, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (Citem), has said it is in talks with various local companies, including those in service outsourcing, to join the CIIE in November this year. The six-day trade event is the brainchild of Chinese President Xi Jinping and is mainly focused on opening up China’s domestic market to international players. “We should take advantage of China’s commitment to do their share in narrowing their trade deficits with their trading partners,” said Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary Nora K. Terrado. Service outsourcing companies are welcome to participate as they fall under the services sector represented at the event which also includes tourism, culture and education, creative design and emerging technologies. The event will be attended by approximately 150,000 participants from a range of countries as well as China.
