Accenture to exit Bangladesh
All 556 employees of Accenture in Bangladesh will lose their jobs when the global outsourcing firm exits the country in November. The company’s decision to leave Bangladesh after it entered in 2013 was confirmed by the Accenture Employees Union, Bangladesh. Accenture has not officially announced its decision. Union general secretary Shahin Ahmed said all of the employees already received an e-mail from the chief operation officer of Accenture, informing them of termination of their contracts. Accenture will serve its clients in Bangladesh from its Indian operation. A big chunk of Accenture’s business in Bangladesh came from Grameenphone but the mobile operator this year decided to award the outsourcing contract to Wipro.
