Canada’s Coventry Connections outsourcing to the Philippines
Canada’s largest taxi company, Coventry Connections, is moving its call center operations to the Philippines. According to company president Hanif Patni, Coventry Connections is shutting down its call center in Ottawa and is laying off about 60 employees. The move comes with the looming legalization of Uber this fall. It was in April when the Ottawa city council voted to legalize Uber and the new ride-ordering regulations come into effect on September 30. About a dozen dispatchers will remain in Ottawa, working with call-takers that will soon be based in the Philippines.
