Only 24% of employers open to hire K-12 graduates – Jobstreet

Less than a quarter of companies are open to hiring fresh graduates of the K to 12 program, according to a Jobstreet Philippines report. The report claims that only 24% of the Philippine employers are willing to hire K-12 graduates. Employers polled include business process outsourcing, manufacturing, professional services, retail, and machinery and equipment. On Tuesday, Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto said the K to 12 Basic Education Program has been hindered not by legal challenges, but by delays in the delivery of school facilities and hiring of teachers. Senator Sherwin Gatchalian is eyeing the possibility of conducting a Senate probe into the employability of K-12 graduates. The Jobstreet data also showed employers believe K-12 graduates are not qualified to fill their vacant positions. Most of the BPO companies in the Philippines still require at least two years of college education for entry level applicants.
