Infosys To Double Headcount, Salaries of Coding Experts

Technology firm Infosys announced that it is looking to double the number of fresh coding experts to develop a digitally skilled talent pool. The newcomers, who will be recruited from leading engineering colleges including the Indian Institute of Technology and the National Institute of Technology, will work as “power programmers” with twice the salaries of other campus hires. The company said the initiative aims to select the best performers after the training period, with the top 5% given priority over other candidates during promotions or incentives. According to Infosys, current employees can also join the “power programmer” initiative through internal coding tests or “hackathons.” Krish Shankar, executive vice-president and head of HR at Infosys, said that once the shortlisted employees become power programmers, their salaries will be doubled. The technology giant is relying on its young workers for digital readiness, giving incentives to those who are proficient in any of the 32 skills the company has identified.
