PH economy to lose P210bn due to ECQ

Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Chua said that the Philippine economy is about to lose 105 billion for every week that the country is under a stricter lockdown.
Due to the new COVID-19 Delta variant, Metro Manila is about to be placed under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6 to 20, unless extended. Chua noted that the ECQ will result in an increase of 177,000 poor people and 444,000 more jobless Filipinos as lockdown-sensitive jobs become unavailable.
Details about if there’s cash aid during the ECQ is yet to be disclosed by the Department of Finance and Department of Budget and Management.
