Back Room’s Martyn Taylor among Top 10 COOs in PH
MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Martyn Taylor, the Chief Operating Officer of outsourcing agency The Back Room Outsourced Professionals, was recently recognized as one of the Top 10 COOs In the Philippines.
In an interview with CEO Insights Asia, Taylor said that his career choices boil down to seeking unique experiences over specific career goals, always considering if a role can offer personal fulfillment and significant impact.
With his diverse career spanning multiple industries — banking, business and IT consulting, logistics, and real estate — Taylor usually leans towards unique and challenging career opportunities.
“My daily motivation is to become a little bit smarter & wiser every day, with the hope that these small gains will add up to big improvements over time,” he added.
Taylor described Back Room as a game-changer as it helps companies across New Zealand, Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom in their accounting, tax, and bookkeeping services. Lately, the firm is also working on expanding its offerings to new vertical markets, such as fractional marketing services and inpatient medical coding.
Under Taylor’s leadership, The Back Room Outsourced Professionals doubled its employee count to around 600 within a year, aiming to exceed 1,000 employees by the end of the year.
As for his leadership style, Taylor prioritizes collaboration and informed decision-making but is not hesitant to make tough decisions if it benefits the company.
Looking into the future, the exec shared that his focus for 2023 is to boost sales, particularly in the United States, and expand the workforce through new office openings in the Philippines and other ‘nearshore’ foreign markets, like South America.
The Back Room Outsourced Professionals is listed in Outsource Accelerator’s (OA) Global Outsourcing Firm (BPO) Index, a vital tool in assisting the BPO decision-making community with a broad but objective industry assessment.
