BPO among Puerto Princesa’s priority sectors

The BPO sector is among the priority sectors that the city of Puerto Princesa will focus on when it receives the PHP27.55bn (USD530.8m) worth of pledged investments from local and foreign companies. Aside from the BPO industry, the committed projects, which are either for immediate expansion or three- to five-year initiatives, will also cover tourism, food, agriculture, fishery and education. Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron said the undertakings will not only help improve the local economy, but also create employment opportunities for his constituents, adding that investment equals employment.
The mayor promised investors that the local government of Puerto Princesa will ensure ease of doing business through streamlined processes for business registration, building permits and certificates of occupancy, among others. The city also plans to make improvements in the city’s road network, Internet connectivity, and water and energy supplies. Incentives will be offered based on existing taxation policies.
