GEM names investment veteran as new COO
NORTH CAROLINA, UNITED STATES — Global Endowment Management (GEM), an outsourced chief investment office (OCIO), has appointed Dogan Perese as its new chief operating officer (COO).
In his new role, Perese will work across GEM’s business units to manage daily operations and enable the firm’s strategic priorities. He will work closely with GEM’s co-founder and managing partner Stephanie Lynch.
“Our operations and service platforms are essential to our investment practice, and to delivering an exceptional and fully integrated partnership with our clients,” said Lynch.
“As we continue to deliver on our firmwide vision, it is critical that our operating infrastructure aligns with our mandate and focus on continuous innovation.”
Prior to joining GEM, Perese was the co-head of investment operations of Bridgewater Associates where he was overseeing the systematic investment process across global markets. He has nearly two decades of experience in investment operations, corporate strategy, and client services.
Previously, Perese practiced corporate law at Cravath, Swaine & Moore after earning degrees from Harvard College and Harvard Law School.
Founded in 2007 and based in Charlotte, GEM manages over $11 billion in assets for a diverse range of domestic and international clients including charitable foundations, universities, research institutions, and policy organizations.
Stephanie Lynch, who was recently elevated to managing partner, co-founded GEM in 2007 after serving as CIO of The Duke Endowment for over seven years.
