Goldman Sachs on Hiring Spree
The financial major has been quietly increasing its headcount at various locations around the world.
Goldman Sachs has its headquarters at 200 West Street, New York City, but a fourth of its people are deployed at ‘low-cost’ locations, some of them in the United States.
A total of 36,800 staff are on its payrolls; and only 10,000 can be seen in the New York-New Jersey area. 9,200 personnel are at these low-cost locations, which includes Salt Lake City, Utah; and Dallas, Texas. Together, they account for 2,760 Goldman Sachs employees, with Salt Lake City being home to more than 2,000 of them. Dallas has about 730.
Some 650 employees are based in Singapore. The global financial services provider has nearly a 100 staff in Warsaw, Poland.
Bangalore (now renamed as Bengaluru) in India has the biggest share of strategic location employees at 62%. This translates to 5,700 employees, most of them working in technology. This city is otherwise known as the Silicon Valley of India.
According to CEO Lloyd Blankfein, they are adding more staff to their Operations, Compliance, and Technology back-offices at these low-cost locations. Roughly 8% of its current global workforce joined the company in the last four years.
